Credits and billing

This page explains plans, article credits, extra articles, tax and where to see your balance.

How SEO-AI is sold

Your first article is free, and no card is needed. Read it and see its score and every fix in the app. Choose a plan to export, copy or publish it.
Plans are monthly and renew each month until you cancel. There is no yearly plan.
The site you signed up on takes the payment and emails your receipt. SEO-AI never sees your card.
Cancel or change your plan on the site under Account, Plan. It applies at the end of the month you paid for.
There are no refunds for a change of mind. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected.
If an article fails and cannot be finished, its credit comes back.

Article credits

One article credit writes one article. You get a set number of credits every month with a paid plan. The free trial gives one credit, once, when you make your workspace.

What uses credits:

Starting an article uses 1 credit.
Refreshing a published article uses 1 credit.
Rebuilding an article is free.
Rewrites: your workspace gets 10 a month at no charge. After that, rewriting a whole article in a new voice costs 0.25 of a credit. Rewriting a section or a selection never costs a credit. See Writing an article.
Pressing "Try again from this step" on an article that stopped never uses another credit.

If an article cannot start, its credit is given back. If an article stops with an error and you press "Give up on this article", its credit comes back. If you leave it, the credit comes back after 7 days.

Plans

These are the plans at launch. The pricing page and /app/settings?tab=billing always show the current prices.

Higher plans also include more of the engine. For example, Pro and Agency can use autopilot, the experience questions and sources found for you. Agency can use white-label exports and programmatic pages.

Choose or change a plan

Go to /app/settings?tab=billing, or press Copy, Export or Send to WordPress on your free article.
Choose a plan. You go to the site's secure checkout.
When you come back, your plan and credits are updated. If you started from an article, you go straight back to it.

To move to another plan, end your current plan on the site under Account, Plan first. Your articles and credits stay. Then choose the new plan here.

Your card, receipts and tax ID

Your card, receipts, cancelling and plan changes are on the site under Account, Plan. Nothing about your card is kept in SEO-AI. You can save an optional tax ID (an ABN, for example) on the Billing tab.

Rollover and expiry

Unused credits roll over for one month, then they expire.

Here is how it works:

Each month's credits expire at the end of the following billing period.
When a new month's credits arrive, your whole balance is capped at one month's worth first. Anything above one month's allowance is removed. Then the new credits are added.

Example: on a plan with 20 articles a month, you finish a month with 6 unused. The new 20 arrive and you have 26. If you ended the month with 24 unused, the 4 above 20 are removed, and you have 20 plus 20 equals 40.

The cap applies to your whole balance. That includes extra articles you bought. Buy extra articles when you need them, and do not stock up.

Extra articles (overage)

When you run out of credits mid-month on a paid plan, you can buy extra articles.

Go to /app/settings?tab=billing.
Under "Need more articles this month?", press "Buy 5 overage articles". The price for each article is shown there.
You pay on the site's checkout. The credits are added the moment the site confirms the payment.

The page may also offer the next plan up. Compare the price: the next plan gives more articles every month.

Rules:

Extra articles are for paid plans. The free trial cannot buy them.
A workspace admin buys them.
If the payment does not go through, nothing is added. Try again from the Billing tab.

Writing allowance

Each paid plan has a fair-use writing allowance for the AI and search data its articles use in a billing month. Almost nobody reaches it. If a workspace does, new articles and fix rounds wait until the plan renews, and the owner gets an email. Articles already written can still be edited, exported and published. Contact support if you need more that month.

Currency and GST

Prices are in Australian dollars. The line under the plan prices says whether GST is included, or that GST does not apply. Add your ABN on the Billing tab if you want it on your records.

Low-credit email

When your balance falls to a fifth of your monthly allowance or less, we email the workspace owner. For example, on a plan with 20 articles a month, the email goes out at 4 or fewer. It applies to paid plans. It is sent at most about once a month, so you are not reminded again for 25 days. You can switch it off on the Billing tab.

The dashboard also shows a notice when you have used 80 percent or more of your monthly credits, and another when you have none left.

Where to see your balance

/app (Dashboard): the Credits box shows your balance and your monthly allowance.
/app/settings?tab=billing: shows your plan, articles used this month, credits left and the renewal date.
/app/articles/new: the last step shows your credits left before you start.

If a payment fails

The site retries a renewal that does not go through and emails you about it. Update your card on the site under Account, Plan. While the site still says you hold the plan, your monthly credits keep arriving. If the site ends the plan, the Billing tab says "Your plan has ended. Choose a plan to keep writing." Your articles are not deleted.
