Getting started
This page walks you through setting up your workspace and writing your first article.
Setup takes three steps. You can leave and come back: if you already have a trial workspace, setup picks up where you stopped.
You need to be signed in first. If you are not, the setup page sends you to sign in and then brings you back.
Before you begin
- Sign up for a member account on the site. If the site asks you to confirm your email address, follow the link it sends you before you start.
- Use a permanent email address. Disposable email addresses are not accepted for the free article.
- You do not need a card. Your first article is free.
What the free article includes
Your first article is free, and no card is needed. It is written and scored like any other article on the RankCore engine, up to 1,500 words. Read it and see its score and every fix in the app. Choose a plan to export, copy or publish it. It stays saved while you decide.
Step 1: Name your workspace
A workspace holds your projects, voices and articles. Most people name it after their business or their client.
- Go to
/onboarding. - Type a name in "Workspace name". It needs at least two characters.
- Press "Continue to voice".
If the site runs a robot check, it happens by itself when you press the button. You can rename the workspace later in /app/settings.
A short collection notice appears on this step. It tells you what we collect and why. The full detail is in the Product privacy policy and in Privacy and data.
Step 2: Pick a voice
Every article is written in a voice. A voice sets the tone, spelling and the way sentences are put together.
- Choose a preset. You can filter the presets by country. Presets are built for local spelling and phrasing, for example "Aussie Tradie".
- Press "Use this voice".
You can press "Skip, use default voice" instead and choose later. You can add more voices, or build one from your own writing samples, on the Voices page at /app/voices. Training a voice on your own writing comes with the paid plans.
Step 3: Choose your first keyword
Your focus keyword is the main phrase you want a page to be found for. Examples: "emergency plumber sydney" or "how to fix a leaking tap".
- Type one clear phrase.
- Press "Open brief builder". This opens the new-article wizard at
/app/articles/newwith your keyword filled in. - Follow the wizard. See Writing an article.
You can press "Skip to dashboard" instead.
If you picked a plan on the home or pricing page before signing up, this step also shows a note about that plan. You can write your free article first or choose the plan straight away.
When your article is ready
We email you when the free article is finished, with a link to it. Open it to read it, see the score and work through the fixes. When you want to use it, press Copy, Export or Send to WordPress: the plans open beside the article. Choose one, pay on the site's checkout, and you come back to the article with export, copy and publish open.
Your dashboard
After setup, /app is your dashboard. It shows:
- Credits: how many article credits you have left, and how many your plan gives you each month. See Credits and billing.
- This month: how many articles you started this month and how many are complete.
- Avg score: the average RankScore of your scored articles. See How scoring works.
- Engine: the name of the writing engine on your plan, and your plan name.
- Recent articles: your latest articles with their score and status. Select one to open it.
A notice appears when you have used 80 percent or more of your monthly credits, and another when you have none left.
The menu runs across the app: Dashboard, Articles, Clusters, Site health, Rank tracker, Voices, Experience, Authors, Projects, Bulk (Pro and Agency), Settings and Tools.
